There is something that music has the ability to do like nothing else in this world. It can reach right into the human soul and take hold of a person. It can captivate and inspire change, even in the darkest and most unlikely of places. It can break down the walls that we build up within ourselves that have stood strong for years. Where words fail, music has a voice. It sings the songs that we hide within ourselves – a melody that will last forever. It has no borders, and is biased to no language. A gift.
Our hopes, our fears, our past failures and future longings are transcribed within song. It can not be totally understood, thought through logically, or worked down to a formula. And this is what makes it beautiful. This is what makes it worth it. This is where we can be totally real. This is where it begins. So let’s sing it out now. - Jeremy Fowler (Lead Vocalist)
Since their formation, the four boys have constantly been experimenting and fusing different styles to create their original and powerful brand of music. Music that has drawn people form far and wide, consistently selling out venues across the east coast of Australia.
In 2008 the band signed a management deal with Delusion Records. Owner Andy Mak says that "New Empire deliver an honesty, integrity, and positivity that is so rare in today's music culture. Musically the band is brilliant; personally the boys are as real as it gets."
New Empire's high energy and powerfullive show combined with their heartfelt and honest music makes them one of Sydney's most popular new bands. Awoe magazine has described New Empire as "the essentials of the rock pop culture", and this is clearly echoed by thousands of music lovers across the country.
"When New Empire took the stage, the dancefloor in the Metro was crowded and the drinks line was empty. The Sutherland boys brought their punk-pop to the stage for a 45 minute set. At times New Empire seemed to channel Angels and Airwaves and at other times they recreated the tones of Cute Is What We Aim For. With a newly pressed album Come With Me Tonight and an enthusiastic fan following, the band seems on the up and up. It doesn’t hurt that they are very 16 year-old-girl crush friendly either…"-Fasterlouder.com.au
